This piece revisits the shifting shoreline of Crane Beach—part of an evolving visual study on weather, tide, and memory. Painted on a hand-collected clam shell from the Ipswich coast, Crane’s Ebb & Flow — 004 captures the energy of a rising tide beneath a sky that refuses to settle. Brushstrokes pull across the sand and into the waves, drawing the eye to that moment when movement and stillness blur.
Gesso-primed and sealed with varnish, the shell’s natural surface subtly influences the composition, allowing light to catch in unexpected ways.
